Driving the 1979 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT with the durable 351M (Cleveland) V8 and C6 automatic transmission. I incorrectly mentioned in the video that the transmission was a Borg-Warner…it’s a C6 3-speed auto with a Borg-Warner 4-wheel-drive transfer case. I have not had to use the 4-wheel drive, but it is functional with high and low ranges, and like other period 4-wheel-drive systems, you have to manually lock and unlock the front hubs. Even with over 130000 miles, it still runs great and starts on the first crank. When I got it I had to replace the battery, headlight and taillight assemblies, windshield wipers, and repair the turn signal and reverse switches to get it on the road again. The taillights were difficult to find but LMC Truck took care of those. More work will be done to it in the near future to bring it to better condition than it is now, but it has been very well maintained and I really enjoy driving it. I wish new cars still had the personality this one has! A couple of other things: I have the radio antenna, but took it off since it’s too tall for my tiny garage, and the aftermarket radio will be gone as soon as I can find a vintage Ford replacement on eBay. It also came with a vintage Motorola CB radio which isn’t shown, I put it in the glove box since I usually plug my iPod into the cigarette lighter.
